Take Action on World Food Day

World Food Day is tomorrow, October 16th. This is a day when the global community comes together to unite against hunger. Want to know how you can get involved? Here’s how:

In advance of the upcoming World Summit on Food Security, November 16th to 18th in Rome, we need you to call on our leaders to recognize food as a human right. The Rome meeting is a key opportunity for the U.S. government to intervene on behalf of people suffering from hunger and poverty worldwide — and there’s no better time than the run-up to World Food Day to make your opinions known.

Please ask U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton to endorse the principle that food is a human right.

Our world’s so-called “food crisis” is not a crisis of not enough food; rather, it stems from political and economic forces that keep food from reaching everyone — what we call a food insecurity crisis. By treating food as a human right and not just another commodity, AJWS’s approach addresses the underlying causes of hunger and creates long-term solutions to the problem. Now what we need is a global commitment from our nation’s leaders.

Join AJWS this World Food Day by sending a clear message to Secretary Clinton!
